Taking in the beauty of a light display is one of the most foolproof ways to get yourself excited for the holidays. We’ve got you covered with the following list of the best holiday displays in Maryland!

Spectacular Light Displays Across the State

Christmas Street

Make your way up to Hampden, right here in Baltimore City, HON, to appreciate the festive display of lights on 34th street. The homes along the street are all decked out in the most over-the-top Christmas decorations and lights. After walking down the street, spend the rest of the evening in Hampden and support one of the local vendors, like Cafe Hon.

Festival of Lights

The Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation is putting on a Festival of Lights up until January 2nd. Pack your friends in a car and head over to Watkins Regional Park to appreciate the magical display of lights for just a small price.

Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens

Stop by Montgomery Park and Brookside Gardens to see wonderful displays of more than a million lights arranged as flowers, animals, and other natural elements, among their actual flowerbeds. This is their 23rd year putting on this display, so take some time to engage in this lovely holiday tradition for just $10 per person.

Lights on the Bay

Take a trip over to Annapolis to marvel at Lights on the Bay, a gorgeous drive-through display of lights in Sandy Point State Park. Tickets are per car, and the proceeds support the SPCA of Anne Arundel County. Plus, you can purchase 3-D glasses in addition to make the light show come to life!

Merriweather Symphony of Lights

Drive down to Howard County to enjoy Merriweather Symphony of Lights, a display of holiday light creations in the Merriweather Post Pavilion. Drive through the display or come during one of their walkthrough nights. A portion of the proceeds from your ticket benefits the HoCo General Hospital.

Sailing Through the Winter Solstice

This celebration of the holidays in Downtown Frederick is truly unique. Sailing Through the Winter Solstice includes a fleet of 22 sailing boats and 3 land-locked boats decked out in holiday lights. The display takes place in Carroll Creek Park, and you can also vote for your favorite boat.

Winterfest of Lights

Looking for a holiday getaway? Take the trip down to Ocean City, and while you’re at it, see its Winterfest of Lights. This walking tour of lights leads you through Northside Park, is just $5 per person, and includes a 50-foot tree!

Winter Lights Festival

Open nightly, check out this display of lights at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg. The drive is about 3.5 miles, and it takes you through a whirlwind of illuminated displays and lit up trees. Remember to purchase tickets for your vehicle in advance!

Zoo Lights

Drive or walk through the Maryland Zoo’s one-of-a-kind display of lights where the lights are arranged as wildlife! The walking path includes Schaefer Plaza, the Farm Yard, the train station, among other sights. If you’re not in the mood to walk, drive through it on Wednesday or Thursday. This event does require you to pay for tickets, but your purchase supports the animal care and conservation work of the Maryland Zoo.
