Summer is officially here; the Summer Solstice fell on Sunday, June 20th at 11:32 p.m., marking the first day of the summer season. The Summer Solstice occurs when the Sun is at its highest peak in the sky, falling overhead the Tropic of Cancer. It was also the longest and sunniest day of the year.
We all know that it’s getting hot in Baltimore. So, here’s where you can cool off.
When in Doubt, Swim it Out

The Maryland Athletic Club is known for their four saltwater pools. Come and take a lap, or two. 1305 residents are eligible for discounted membership rates, with $10 off/month.
You’ll be swim-pressed with Mt. Washington’s private pool. There are swimming areas, designated swimming lanes, and a diving board. Mt. Washington will be open every day until Labor Day. If interested, click here to register.
Otterbein Swim Club has one of the largest swimming pools in Baltimore and is open for late-night swims and social events. Information about pass applications, waitlists, and fees can be found here.
Get back in the swim of things right here in Baltimore. Roland Park Pool offers two private pools that are perfect for the summer. To gain access, you must purchase a membership. There are individual, family, and evening passes here.
The Swim Club at Lighthouse Point is officially open for the summer. Until Labor Day, they’re open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. everyday. You can purchase passes for the summer as an individual, couple, or family. All passes include towel service and amenities.

Go with the float at Baltimore’s Four Seasons Hotel, featuring a rooftop pool with stunning views of the harbor. This summer, you can rent out half- and full-day cabana sessions; they’re private, luxurious, and relaxing for $250, or $400.
Merritt Clubs’s rooftop pool was recently named as the “Best Pool in Baltimore” by Baltimore Magazine. Enjoy views of Baltimore’s skyline, whilst relaxing in the water. Merritt Clubs offers two pools, a hot tub, cabanas, and a fully-stocked bar. Apply for a membership here.
The Pool at the Sagamore Pendry is located at the end of the Recreation Pier, right next to the waterfront. Enjoy the city skyline from one of their private cabanas, or by their bar. Get access to The Pool by renting a room or suite for a night or two; it’s the perfect getaway. You can also get a day pass at the Sagamore front desk for $200/person, which includes a $50 food and beverage credit.
